Wow!! 2 questions:
1. What if "granpa" knows of the blog? Will this not spoil the surprise?
2. What OS will it run? Doesn't look like you bought an OS, so hopefully something good, like Linux?
3. How much did all of this costs?
Oops that was three questions.

Hi Zeeple,

So many questions!

1. Grandpa is highly unlikely to know about this blog because:

a) It is only 3 days old; and even the most ardent blog readers are not likely to have stumbled across it yet (as far as I know, only you and I know about it), and

b) Grandpa is about as far from an ardent blog reader as one can get; in fact, I'd venture to say that he's never even seen one, and likely does not even know what a blog is.

2. This system will run Windows XP Pro, because of the primary applications that Grandpa uses (there are no Linux versions available).

3. Sorry, only two questions per customer...

:)
The hardware was ~$1260, and the OS was ~$37.50 (all prices including shipping and tax), so, all told, just under $1300.

I'm considering installing a dual boot configuration with some Linux distro, but just not sure which yet. My neighbor has downloaded some 350 different distros, so we have plenty from which to choose.
